New Evolution of Publication - Twitter

Newspapers, magazines, televisions, radios are the medium of news publication in the past. Technology is improving rapidly. According to Syed Jaymal Zahiid (2010), blogging is so yesterday, many politicians are using twitter now. Twitter is one of the new forms of publication that enables its users to sent and read messages known as tweets. Twitter can be used for spread information like gossip, education, economy and even politic.

For example, The President of United State, Mr. Barack Obama has an account on Twitter. He is able to interact with people from every country and can know what their opinions as well even when the elective of the president of United States, he was using Twitter to get the votes.

Furthermore, many well-known people like artists, celebrities, politicians even some organizations like CNN has a twitter. They can tell the audiences what they did and what they feel. For example, Indonesia has many ceelebrities which have a lot of fans, they are using twitter to inform their daily life, tell the audience what they feel when they become a topic in media because of their behavior and they can confirm whether the gossip is real or not whereas the fans follow their favorite actress or actors to know what they are doing. Beside, Twitter is allowing uploading some picture and letting people know where their location is.

However, there are some problems with Twitter. You may feel that you have thousand of followers who read your tweet but in fact maybe they are not (Smith, 2009). Besides, many people have negative effect of the fake account. For example, there are many fake accounts of well-known people and they spread the bad news and lie, it may cause controversial between the real people to the audience because of this misunderstanding. As a follower, they are not sure whether they are following the right account or not. Furthermore, according to Simon Owens (2009) many journalists are fooled by twitter pranksters. The twitter pranksters are a big problem because they can hacked the celebrities or politician’s twitter account to give wrong information and it may harm a lot of parties.
